Director Osgood Perkins Impresses with Suspenseful Thriller

Nicolas Cage Delivers Haunting Performance Despite Absence

Maika Monroe, Blair Underwood, Alicia Witt, Michelle Choi-Lee, Dakota Daulby, and Lauren Acala star in writer-director Osgood Perkins' "Longlegs," a chilling serial-killer thriller that explores the occult. Despite Nicolas Cage's limited on-screen presence, his performance is felt throughout the film, creating an unsettling and terrifying atmosphere.

The film follows a young woman (Monroe) who is pursued by a mysterious killer known as "Longlegs." As the bodies pile up, she seeks the help of an eccentric detective (Underwood) and a paranormal investigator (Witt). Perkins' direction is taut and suspenseful, maintaining a sense of unease throughout.

Cage's character, a serial killer, is primarily heard through phone calls and seen in brief glimpses. His unseen presence looms large, adding an extra layer of fear to the proceedings. Despite his limited screen time, Cage's performance is haunting and unnerving, proving that his star power can transcend traditional storytelling.

"Longlegs" is a welcome addition to the horror genre, offering a blend of procedural and occult elements. Perkins' direction is masterful, creating a sense of dread that lingers long after the credits roll. The performances are strong, particularly from Monroe and Underwood, and Cage's unseen presence adds an extra layer of terror.
